PEARL BOX

Cocktail Bar

New York - 2024

This project was completed on behalf of &LANA, and collaborated with the &LANA creative team throughout the entire process.

Summary

I was engaged to develop a complete brand identity for Pearl Box, a cocktail and caviar bar inspired by the golden era of the 70s-80s, located in the heart of SoHo, Manhattan. My role involved the following:
  1. Branding and Identity Guidelines: Created a cohesive brand identity that blends the glitz and glamour of the golden era with modern sophistication. Comprehensive identity guidelines were developed to ensure brand consistency across all applications.
  2. Illustrations: Designed custom illustrations and patterns reflecting the opulence of the 70s-80s, integrated throughout Pearl Box’s physical collateral and interior design. One of the standout illustrations is "Ms. Pearl," a laid-back woman holding a martini, who has become a character representing the spirit of Pearl Box.
  3. Collateral Design: Developed a wide range of printed assets, including cocktail menus, coasters, and cocktail stirrers. Each piece was meticulously designed to capture the nostalgic yet elevated essence of Pearl Box.

Goal

The goal was to create a brand identity for Pearl Box that evokes the allure and energy of a Studio 54-inspired atmosphere while incorporating modern luxury. The design elements—such as an 80s Playboy at Night-inspired typography, luxurious color palettes, and bold illustrations—were intended to transport guests back to the golden era, while maintaining an exclusive, yet approachable, environment. We aimed to ensure that Pearl Box offered guests a luxurious, laid-back experience in the vibrant nightlife scene of SoHo.

Client

Pearl Box is a cocktail and caviar bar located on the third floor of 357 West Broadway in SoHo, Manhattan. It is expected to open this fall, above the yet-to-open restaurant concept Heroes. Ariel Arce, known for New York concepts like Tokyo Record Bar and Niche Niche, is a partner in both Pearl Box and Heroes. Alongside Aaron Lirette (chef) and Kenneth Crum (beverage director), Arce has crafted these two unique experiences, with Pearl Box bringing a glamorous cocktail and caviar experience to SoHo’s iconic scene.
